Heraldic Tiger

The Heraldic Tiger or Tyger

The Heraldic Tiger or Tyger bears little resemblance to the actual animal, being drawn by armorists who had never seen such an animal.

The Tyger can be used to signify valor or uncommon courage in battle.

The Bengal Tiger would later be introduced to heraldry as the British Empire began exploits in the Indian Subcontinent, this natural tigerlooked more like the real creature, but was used to convey similar means, although generally within context of adventures (or misadventures) in India.
